Scott was born in Geneseo, Illinois on October 31, 1957. He has been with JDKG since April 2006.
His practice areas include general corporate, partnership, and limited liability company matters for private and public businesses, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, general business transactions.
Corporate experience includes formation of business entities and non-profits, with an emphasis on partnerships and LLC’s, and fundamental issues facing small to medium-size businesses: contracts, financing and private offerings of securities, venture capital and start-up representation, private placement of securities, formation issues, joint ventures and strategic alliances, confidentiality and non-circumvention agreements, joint operating agreements, risk management agreements, master service agreements and corporate control matters, non-competition and non-disclosure, protection of intellectual property, employment and contractor agreements, and the purchase and disposition of assets and stock.
He has extensive experience assisting clients with regulatory compliance issues, including compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 and assisting motor vehicle dealerships with DMV and OCCC licensing.
Real estate experience includes representing clients in formulating strategies for the development, acquisition, financing, management, entity structuring, disposition and leasing of residential, commercial and industrial properties.
